De betekenis van biologische factoren voor de behandeling van gedragsstoornissen

Samenvatting

Over de biologische factoren die een rol spelen bij het ontstaan en instandhouden van gedragsstoornissen is veel minder bekend dan over de psychologische en sociale factoren. Toch is het van belang om bij een kind of adolescent met een gedragsstoornis oog te hebben voor zijn of haar biologische kwetsbaarheid. Deze kwetsbaarheid kan beschreven worden in termen van temperamentkenmerken en comorbide psychiatrische stoornissen, en van afwijkingen van het autonome zenuwstelsel, het hypothalamus-hypofyse-bijniersysteem en het serotonerge systeem. Sommige biologische factoren bieden aanknopingspunten voor farmacotherapie.
