Gescheiden vaders: bevindingen bij een kinder- en jeugdpsychiatrische populatie

In een groep van 1952 kinderen en adolescenten, die verwezen waren naar een centrum voor kinder- en jeugdpsychiatrie blijken kinderen met een neuropsychiatrische stoornis veel vaker bij hun beide biologische ouders te wonen dan kinderen met een emotionele of een gedragsstoornis. Van de kinderen die na een echtscheiding van hun ouders bij de moeder wonen heeft iets meer dan de helft nog contact met de vader. De mate van contact is zowel afhankelijk van de samenstelling van het gezin waar het kind verblijft, als van de burgerlijke staat van de vader. De niet-verzorgende vaders onderhouden vaker contact met hun zoons dan met hun dochters.
