De diagnostische validiteit van angststoornissen bij kinderen en adolescenten

Samenvatting

Dit artikel behandelt de validiteit van de dsm-iv-classificaties van angststoornissen bij kinderen en adolescenten. Besproken wordt of angststoornissen als zelfstandige categorie onderscheiden kunnen worden. Er zijn aanwijzingen dat er sprake is van een gemeenschappelijk angst-depressie construct (‘negatieve affectiviteit’), waaronder een angst- en een depressiefactor onderscheiden kunnen worden. Ten aanzien van de validiteit van de specifieke angststoornissen lijkt sprake van een vergelijkbaar model: een algemene angstfactor, waaronder verschillende angstfactoren kunnen worden gedifferentieerd. De gegevens over de externe validiteit van de verschillende angststoornissen zijn ontoereikend om ondersteuning te bieden aan de dsm-iv-classificatie van angststoornissen bij kinderen en adolescenten.
