Systeemtherapeutische interventies bij kinderen met angststoornissen

Samenvatting

Angststoornissen zijn familiaal bepaald. Naast overerving spelen opvoedings- en gezinsfactoren een rol bij de instandhouding van angst bij kinderen. Therapie-evaluatieonderzoek laat zien dat de enige ‘evidence-based’ behandeling voor angststoornissen bij kinderen, cognitieve gedragstherapie, aanmerkelijk beter werkt wanneer de ouders in de therapie worden betrokken. In dit artikel wordt een nieuwe therapie beschreven die is ontwikkeld voor de behandeling van kinderen met angststoornissen en hun gezin: gezins-cognitieve gedragstherapie. De therapie wordt met een casus gedemonstreerd. De behandeling blijkt effectief voor kinderen en adolescenten met ernstige angststoornissen. De eerste effecten van de therapie bij de zeventien gezinnen die op deze wijze zijn behandeld worden beschreven.
