Effectiviteit van Triple P in Nederland: stand van zaken en controverse

Samenvatting

Inleiding

Het opvoedprogramma Triple P wordt in ruim de helft van de Nederlandse gemeenten aangeboden. In dit artikel geven we de effecten van Triple P weer die worden gevonden in internationale meta-analyses en Nederlandse onderzoeken. Daarnaast bespreken we controverses rondom het onderzoek naar Triple P.

Methode

We bespreken systematisch internationale meta-analyses en Nederlandse onderzoeken met een controlegroep.

Resultaten

In buitenlands onderzoek lijkt het effect van Triple P op gedragsproblemen van kinderen en opvoedvaardigheden van ouders groter dan dat van gebruikelijke zorg. In Nederland is de effectiviteit van Triple P niveau 3 en 4 echter niet groter dan die van gebruikelijke zorg; de andere niveaus zijn niet onderzocht.

Conclusie

Belangenverstrengeling van de ontwikkelaars van Triple P lijkt de resultaten van buitenlandse onderzoeken, waar zij vaak bij betrokken zijn, te beïnvloeden. De Nederlandse onderzoeken zijn op één na onafhankelijk en vinden dat Triple P niet effectiever is dan gebruikelijke zorg.
