Psychosociale begeleiding van vruchtbaarheidsproblemen

Samenvatting

Veel mensen beschrijven vruchtbaarheidsproblemen en hun behandeling als intense crisismomenten in hun leven. Een grondig begrip van de kinderwens kan inzicht geven in de redenen waarom de confrontatie met vruchtbaarheidsproblemen zo pijnlijk is en zo’n invloed heeft op alle aspecten van het leven. Deze bijdrage gaat in op het verband tussen psychologie en vruchtbaarheidsproblemen en op de complexe rol van stress bij de voortplanting. Het fertiliteitstraject lijkt in psychologisch opzicht op een rit in de achtbaan. In deze bijdrage worden de aard van het beslissingsproces, de verschillen tussen man en vrouw, en de rol van de huisarts besproken, alsmede de zin van psychosociale begeleiding en mogelijke momenten van verwijzing naar een psycholoog.
