Preventie van voortplantingsproblemen bij comorbiditeit

Samenvatting

De mogelijkheid tot voortplanting is voor jonge mensen een belangrijk aspect van kwaliteit van leven. Onvruchtbaarheid is echter een veelvoorkomende bijwerking van kankerbehandelingen zoals chemotherapie en bestraling.1 Omdat steeds meer kankerpatiënten langdurig overleven, is fertiliteitspreservatie de laatste jaren in de belangstelling komen te staan. Cryopreservatie, een methode om sperma van mannen die een vruchtbaarheidsbedreigende behandeling ondergaan te bewaren, is al tientallen jaren gebruikelijk.2 Voor vrouwen heeft fertiliteitspreservatie pas de laatste jaren een sterke ontwikkeling doorgemaakt. Het gaat daarbij vaak om invasieve procedures, waarvoor tijd nodig is.3
