22. Parafilieën en parafiele stoornissen

Samenvatting

Dit hoofdstuk geeft een inleidende beschrijving van het hedendaagse denken en handelen over parafilieën en parafiele stoornissen in de seksuologie. Er is daarbij vooral aandacht voor (veronderstelde) gezamenlijke kenmerken van alle parafilieën of parafiele stoornissen. Na een korte inleiding over de meest voorkomende hoofdperspectieven op parafilieën, vooral het (psycho)pathologische en het normaliteitsperspectief, wordt eerst stilgestaan bij de definitie (wat is (ab)normaal?) en de prevalentie van parafilieën en parafiele stoornissen. Vervolgens worden de belangrijkste theoretische perspectieven toegelicht, vooral sociaal-psychologische, normaliserende en pathologische theorieën. Daarna is er aandacht voor behandelingen en wordt er afgesloten met enkele kritische slotgedachten.
