23. Hyperseksualiteit

Samenvatting

Dit hoofdstuk gaat eerst in op definitie- en classificatiekwesties rond het fenomeen hyperseksualiteit, waarover ondanks een aantal ernstige pogingen om tot een oplossing te komen nog steeds onduidelijkheid bestaat. Daarna worden biologische en psychologische verklaringsmodellen en hun implicaties voor de klinische praktijk beschreven. Vervolgens wordt stilgestaan bij de psychotherapeutische en farmacologische behandelingsmogelijkheden van hyperseksualiteit en wordt een lans gebroken voor meer empirische validering van de effectiviteit van de thans gebruikte interventies. Het hoofdstuk eindigt met een kort concluderend overzicht.
