Gehechtheid van pleegkinderen in relatie tot gedragsproblemen en sensitiviteit van pleegouders

Samenvatting

Gehechtheid bij pleegkinderen varieert niet alleen in termen van kwaliteit van relaties, maar mogelijk ook wat betreft verstoord gehechtheidsgedrag. Om de betekenis hiervan te onderzoeken, is bij 61 pleegkinderen de kwaliteit van de gehechtheidsrelatie en de sensitiviteit van pleegouders gemeten tijdens thuis- en laboratoriumobservaties. Gedragsproblemen en symptomen van verstoorde gehechtheid werden gemeten via pleegouder- en gedeeltelijk ook leerkrachtrapportages. Sensitiviteit was positief geassocieerd met veilige gehechtheid, mits gecontroleerd werd voor verstoorde gehechtheid. Veilige gehechtheid en verstoorde gehechtheid bleken respectievelijk negatief en positief samen te hangen met gedragsproblemen. Gehechtheidstheoretische principes lijken ook van toepassing op pleegouder-kindrelaties, mits er geen sprake is van verstoorde gehechtheid.
