8. Ergotherapeut

Samenvatting

Ergotherapie is gericht op het mogelijk maken van het dagelijks handelen. Dat doen ergotherapeuten cliëntgecentreerd, occupation-based, context-based, evidence-based, technology-based en population-based. De relatie met de cliënt is een belangrijk onderdeel van de interventie, waarbij het gebruik van jezelf (use of self) en creativiteit belangrijke elementen zijn. Bij het mogelijk maken van het handelen maakt de ergotherapeut gebruik van de verschillende enablement skills, deze zijn onderdeel van de cliëntgerichte beroepscompetenties die gericht zijn op de interventie. Door Directe Toegankelijkheid Ergotherapie (DTE) kunnen ergotherapeuten zonder verwijzing van de huisarts na een positieve DTE-screening de interventie direct starten. Het ethisch redeneren van de ergotherapeut wordt in de Beroepscode en Gedragsregels Ergotherapeut beschreven. Het is belangrijk dat alle ergotherapeuten de beroepscode onderschrijven en zich houden aan de gedragsregels. Leadership in Enabling Occupation (LEO) is een belangrijk model voor alle ergotherapeuten. Voor het beroep is het belangrijk dat elke ergotherapeut persoonlijk leiderschap laat zien en de meerwaarde van dagelijks handelen voor gezondheid en welzijn en ergotherapie uitdraagt, zodat deze toegankelijk is voor alle burgers in Vlaanderen en Nederland. Ergotherapeuten zijn gericht op het wegnemen van belemmeringen in wonen, zorgen, leren, werken, spelen en vrije tijd zodat iedereen kan participeren in de samenleving.
