Chirurgische behandeling van gespleten lip en verhemelte

Samenvatting

De anatomie bij patiënten met een gespleten lip en verhemelte is zeer complex. Gedurende de gehele behandeling van deze patiënten is het delicate evenwicht tussen groei en chirurgisch ingrijpen van het grootste belang. Uitgebreide en gecoördineerde zorg van kinderleeftijd tot adolescentie is essentieel om tot een ideaal resultaat te komen. Een specialistische aanpak van een multidisciplinair team is onontbeerlijk voor de uitgebreide planning en behandeling van de kinderen met deze afwijking. Dit multidisciplinaire team bestaat uit een aantal specialismen zoals maxillofaciale chirurgie, KNO, genetica, logopedie, orthodontie, pediatrie, sociaal assistenten en vele anderen. Ons streven is dat de kinderen tegen de leeftijd van 6 jaar, aan het begin van groep 3, alle primaire operaties achter de rug hebben en een normale spraak, normaal uiterlijk en adequate faciale groei hebben.
