Case report. Het effect van fietsen op totaal-PSA: een update

Samenvatting

In mei 2015 is een systematische review en een meta-analyse verschenen van Jiandani et al., waaruit werd geconcludeerd dat er geen effect is van fietsen op de PSA-concentratie. In deze review is een belangrijke studie van Kindermann et al. echter niet opgenomen in de analyse. Na overweging van beide studies en eigen casuïstiek, concluderen wij dat het totaal-PSA bij fietsers tot 48 uur na de interventie verhoogd kan zijn ten opzichte van de uitgangswaarde. In de dagelijkse urologische praktijk mag causaliteit echter niet zomaar verondersteld worden. Het achterwege laten van biopten lijkt hierdoor niet gerechtvaardigd.
