Vergelijkbaarheid van een intelligentietest in India en Nederland

De bruikbaarheid en vergelijkbaarheid van een intelligentietest voor Indiase en Nederlandse kinderen van zes tot twaalf jaar werden onderzocht. Hiertoe is een Nederlandse test (Revisie Amsterdamse Kinder Intelligentie Test - RAKIT) aangepast voor de Indiase situatie (Indian Child Intelligence Test - ICIT). Beide tests zijn vergeleken aan de hand van de uitkomsten van testafnames bij 612 Indiase en 1007 Nederlandse kinderen. Slechts voor één van de negen subtests (Schijven) is een aanzienlijk verschil in gemiddelde score gevonden, waarbij Indiase kinderen lagere scores behaalden. De interne consistentie en stabiliteit van de ICIT en RAKIT zijn hoog en grotendeels vergelijkbaar. De tests vertonen daarenboven een hoge functionele equivalentie. Ten slotte bleek ook de predictieve validiteit voor beide tests redelijk hoog en vergelijkbaar.
