12. Preventie van seksueel overdraagbare aandoeningen en hiv

Samenvatting

Dit hoofdstuk beschrijft het denken over en de praktijk van de preventie van seksueel overdraagbare aandoeningen (soa’s) en het humaan immunodeficiëntievirus (hiv) in Nederland en België, vooral Vlaanderen. Eerst wordt een overzicht gegeven van veelvoorkomende soa’s en wordt een aantal epidemiologische trends toegelicht. Vervolgens wordt, tegen de historische achtergrond van de soa- en hiv-preventie, een overzicht gegeven van zowel beproefde (onder andere gedragsverandering) als nieuwe preventiemethoden (onder andere hiv-remmers als profylaxe). Daarna worden de speerpunten van de soa-/hiv-preventie in Nederland en België, vooral Vlaanderen, in meer detail besproken en wordt ook ingegaan op belangrijke praktische benaderingen (onder andere e-health en m-health). Tot slot volgt een beschouwing van de soa- en hiv-preventie en wordt een aantal uitdagingen voor de preventie van soa’s en hiv in de toekomst op een rij gezet, met als ultieme doel om tegen 2030 een eind te maken aan de hiv-epidemie.
