Praten met Kinderen: effectief voor ouders van (pre)adolescenten?

Samenvatting

In een randomized controlled trial hebben we de effectiviteit van Praten met Kinderen (pmk) onderzocht, een programma voor ouders van (pre)adolescente kinderen met opvoedmoeilijkheden. Het programma richt zich op het verminderen van gedragsproblemen bij kinderen door communicatie- en probleemoplossingsvaardigheden en disfunctioneel opvoedgedrag van ouders te verbeteren. We hebben gedragsobservaties en vragenlijsten (ouder- en kindrapportage) gebruikt van 78 gezinnen met kinderen in de leeftijd van 9 t/m 16 jaar (M = 13.09, sd = 1.75). De resultaten laten zien dat deelname aan pmk leidde tot verbetering van communicatie- en probleemoplossingsvaardigheden van ouders en tot afname van disfunctioneel opvoedgedrag direct na de training. pmk was het meest effectief voor ouders met een hoger opleidingsniveau en voor gezinnen met kinderen van 14 tot 16 jaar.
