Piekeren bij kinderen

Thema's, voorkomen en het verband met angst

Samenvatting

Piekeren wordt omschreven als het anticiperen op en elaboreren of cognitief uitwerken van mogelijke bedreigende resultaten van een situatie. Dit cognitief fenomeen werd nader bekeken in het huidige onderzoek, verricht bij een steekproef van 98 basisschoolkinderen. Ten eerste werd nagegaan of er een verband bestaat tussen piekeren en angst en ten tweede of piekeren vanuit een ontwikkelingsperspectief kan worden gezien. De meting gebeurde aan de hand van twee experimentele versies van vragenlijsten voor piekeren en twee angstvragenlijsten. Er bleek een positief verband te bestaan tussen piekeren en angst. De leeftijdsverschillen in de piekerparameters bereikten geen significantie, waardoor een ontwikkelingsverloop van piekeren niet wordt bevestigd.
