Multiprobleemgezinnen in intensieve specialistische meergezinstherapie: een theoretische beschrijving en verslag van een casestudy

Samenvatting

Sommige gezinnen kampen met chronische, ernstige en intergenerationele problemen op meerdere levensgebieden. Deze multiprobleemgezinnen hebben vaak geen baat bij de gebruikelijke behandeling. Voor hen heeft de Afdeling Gezinspsychiatrie (AGP) van een Nederlandse ggz-instelling de Intensive Specialized Multi-Family Therapy (ISMFT) ontwikkeld. ISMFT is een integratieve behandeling gebaseerd op Multifamily Therapy, met extra elementen zoals oplossingsgerichte therapie en met een focus op de therapeutische werkrelatie tussen de gezinnen en de therapeuten. Dergelijke intensieve behandelingen voor multiprobleemgezinnen worden in Europa maar zelden gegeven en vaak worden deze gezien als “laatste redmiddel” voor uithuisplaatsing van de kinderen. In dit artikel worden de theoretische principes van ISMFT uiteengezet, waarbij een casestudy van een anoniem gezin wordt opgevoerd voor een beschrijving van de behandeling en illustratie van de behandelprincipes.
