“Ze geven je een tweede kans”: Percepties van jongeren en verzorgers van hun ervaringen met een gemeenschapsgericht systeem voor geestelijke gezondheidszorg

Samenvatting

Kind- en gezinsgerichte zorgsystemen – met de inclusie van de stem van kind, jongere en gezin – bieden een alternatief voor de traditionele, autoritaire benaderingen in de geestelijke gezondheidszorg van kinderen. Er is al veel geschreven over inclusie van de stem van kind, jongere en gezin bij de ontwikkeling van responsieve en effectieve systemen in de ggz, maar in de literatuur is nog maar weinig onderzoek te vinden waarin het perspectief van de behandelde jongeren en verzorgers zelf naar voren komt. In deze verkennende studie willen we deze kloof verder dichten. Aan de hand van acht semigestructureerde interviews met jongeren en verzorgers hebben we daarvoor onderzoek gedaan naar de percepties van jongeren en hun verzorgers van hun deelname aan een gemeenschapsgericht systeem voor geestelijke gezondheidszorg. Hieruit komen vijf hoofdthema’s naar voren. De geïnterviewde gezinnen beschrijven negatieve, eerdere ervaringen met de geestelijke gezondheidszorg en een sterk gevoel van tevredenheid met de ontvangen zorg in een zorgbenaderingssysteem. Ook zijn ze blij met de kwaliteit van de relatie die als onderdeel van hun behandeling is ontstaan, hadden ze het gevoel dat de persoonlijke zorgverlening de behandeling meer persoonlijke betekenis gaf en voelden zij zich gesterkt om initiatiefnemer te zijn in het bereiken van geestelijke gezondheid en het behalen van eigen levensdoelen. We bespreken de implicaties voor de praktijk en toekomstig onderzoek, opdat de inzichten uit dit verkennende onderzoek gebruikt kunnen worden voor toekomstig onderzoek en voor de praktijk, zodat de stem van kind, jongere en gezin onderdeel wordt van de geestelijke gezondheidszorg voor kinderen.
