Leren van binnenuit: acties van therapeuten in de dagelijkse praktijk

Samenvatting

Het integreren van verschillende theorieën en technieken maakt onderdeel uit van de dagelijkse praktijk van gezinstherapeuten, een gegeven dat de vraag oproept welke bronnen deze professionals in hun dagelijkse klinisch handelen precies gebruiken. Het doel van ons onderzoek is om te reflecteren op het gebruik van theoretische en technische bronnen door gezinstherapeuten in hun dagelijkse praktijk als hulpverlener. We hebben een onderzoeksmethode ontwikkeld die is geïnspireerd door het collaboratieve actieonderzoek en het sociaal constructivisme. De partnerrelatietherapie- en gezinstherapiesessies werden uitgevoerd door twee gezinstherapeuten; na afloop daarvan voerden we dialogen met hen, gericht op het geven van een beschrijving van de theoretische en technische inspiratiebronnen voor hun acties. Uit die gesprekken kwamen vier categorieën acties naar voren: verkennende acties, acties voor het construeren van relationele visies, acties voor het construeren van communicatie en acties gericht op het gezin. De therapeuten-deelnemers noemden een flink aantal theoretische en technische bronnen waardoor ze zich in hun praktijk lieten inspireren. Bij hun keuze voor een specifieke bron baseerden ze zich op dat wat de interactie van het moment van hen vroeg, waarbij ook hun eigen relationele en belichaamde reacties op wat ze tijdens de sessies ervoeren een rol speelden. Wij betogen hier dat epistemologische coherentie niet iets is wat het handelen van therapeuten in de praktijk a priori stuurt, maar eerder iets wat ze kunnen bereiken door over hun acties te praten en erop te reflecteren. Dit artikel kan een bijdrage leveren aan de scholing en praktijk in het werkveld van de gezinstherapie doordat het een interessant reflectieproces presenteert dat de manier van werken in het veld van de partnerrelatie- en gezinstherapie kan helpen verbeteren (FAPESP, Process, 2015/21316–1).
