Hoe effectief is online partnerrelatie-educatie? Een systematische meta-content review

Samenvatting

Logistieke en financiële problemen weerhouden veel koppels met relatieproblemen ervan om hulp te zoeken in de vorm van psychotherapie. Voor hen zou online partnerrelatie-educatie dan een haalbaar alternatief kunnen zijn. In de tien jaar nadat is aangetoond dat een webgebaseerd programma even effectief is als traditionele huwelijkseducatie (Duncan et al. 2009), is een aantal volledig online programma’s ontwikkeld en geëvalueerd. We hebben negen studies van vier verschillende programma’s bekeken met een steekproef van meer dan 2.000 koppels. We hebben elke studie beoordeeld op wetenschappelijke rigueur en hebben een vergelijking gemaakt van de onderzoeksopzetten, de theoretische en empirische basis, de gemiddelde effectgroottes aan het einde van het programma en bij de follow-up en van de differentiële effectiviteit. De gemeten uitkomsten in de studies zijn relationeel (verbetering van satisfactie, kwaliteit, vertrouwen, betrokkenheid en communicatie en vermindering van conflicten en agressie) en hebben betrekking op het individueel functioneren voor verschillende indicatoren van mentale en fysieke gezondheid, emotionele expressie en kwaliteit van leven. Tot slot bespreken we de sterke punten en de beperkingen van het onderzoeksbewijs, geven we een beschrijving van de twee meest evidence-based programma’s (ePREP en OurRelationship) en doen we aanbevelingen voor toekomstig onderzoek naar dit soort veelbelovende interventies.

Roddy et al. (2017) deelnemers die waren geworven voor Korte-OR (met of zonder ondersteuning van een coach) hadden al zes maanden op de wachtlijst van Doss et al. (2016) gestaan. In de studie van Rothman et al. (2019) werden de deelnemers van Roddy et al. (2018) die veel of weinig ondersteuning door een coach hadden gekregen vergeleken met een controlegroep die bestond uit eerdere OR-deelnemers die helemaal geen ondersteuning door een coach hadden gehad.

In een aantal OR-studies was er een overlap tussen de steekproeven en daarom is het niet mogelijk het exacte aantal koppels te geven.
