We spreken vaak over kwantiteit. Zo is de frequentie waarmee getalswoorden zoals ‘drie’ of ‘vijfde’ worden uitgesproken vele malen hoger dan die van veelgebruikte zelfstandige naamwoorden als ‘hond’ of ‘kat’ (celex Database, 1995). Verder kunnen verschillende vormen van kwantiteit met eenzelfde getalswoord worden weergeven: twee objecten, het Arabische getal 2, het Romeinse getal II, of een dobbelsteen met twee punten worden alle snel en accuraat beschreven met het getalswoord ‘twee’. …
