Een knieluxatie na minimaal trauma bij morbide obesitas; twee casussen

Samenvatting

Knieluxaties zijn relatief zeldzame letsels die veelal worden veroorzaakt door een hoogenergetisch trauma. Bij patiënten met morbide obesitas kan echter een gering trauma, zoals door de knie zakken, al leiden tot een knieluxatie. Naast de uitgebreide laesies van de intra- en extra-articulaire stabiliserende structuren, zijn vooral ook neurovasculaire letsels berucht. De groeiende populatie obese patiënten in ogenschouw nemend, is dit een zorgwekkende constatering. Omdat er, gezien de habitus, een relatief groot risico is op complicaties en recidivering, heeft operatieve reconstructie bij deze groep patiënten niet de voorkeur.
