Samenvatting

De kwetsbare oudere (geriatrische) patiënt is een meestal oudere, maar vooral ‘andere’ patiënt dan een volwassene. Naast multimorbiditeit en polyfarmacie is er vaak sprake van een veranderde ziektepresentatie, atypische ziektepresentatie en onderrapportage. Dit heeft invloed op ziekte en de manier waarop we het lichamelijk onderzoek doen. In principe doe je bij deze patiënten een comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA). Welke onderzoeken je doet, waarom en hoe je dit onderzoek uitvoert staat samen met een aantal specifieke testen ten aanzien van functies van cognitie, lichamelijke activiteit en zelfredzaamheid beschreven in dit hoofdstuk.
