10. Cognitieve therapie bij ziekteangststoornis en de somatisch-symptoomstoornis

Samenvatting

Dit hoofdstuk gaat over de cognitief gedragstherapeutische behandeling van de ziekteangststoornis en de somatisch-symptoomstoornis. Allereerst geven we een overzicht van de classificatie van somatoforme stoornissen, die in de DSM-5 sterk afwijkt van de DSM-IV en ook anders genoemd worden: somatisch-symptoomstoornis en verwante stoornissen. Aan de hand van casuïstiek komen de belangrijkste stappen in de behandeling aan bod: het behandelcontract, de rationale, het opsporen en uitdagen van catastrofale gedachten en het uitvoeren van gedragsexperimenten. Daarnaast bespreken we thema’s die bij ziekteangst een rol spelen, zoals ziekte en gezondheid, de angst voor lijden en de dood, omgaan met onzekerheid, het besef van lichamelijke kwetsbaarheid en het fenomeen van selectieve aandacht. We sluiten af met een update van de recente literatuur.

De term somatoforme stoornissen gebruiken we als verzamelnaam voor alle psychische aandoeningen waarbij lichamelijke klachten betrokken zijn, waaronder de somatisch-symptoomstoornis en verwante stoornissen.
