‘Better safe than sorry’ bij een totale knieprothese

Samenvatting

Knieartrose (gonartrose) is de meest voorkomende vorm van artrose. Zowel voor de conservatieve als voor de operatieve behandeling ervan zijn richtlijnen opgesteld. Eerder in deze richtlijnenserie in Podosophia stonden de diagnostiek en het conservatieve traject van knieartrose centraal. Nu belichten we de klinische Richtlijn Totale Knieprothese (TKP). De relatie tussen de voet en de TKP heeft biomechanische aspecten. Bij kwetsbare patiëntengroepen, zoals reuma- en diabetespatiënten, bestaat er ook een risico op infectie van de prothese, met mogelijk dodelijke afloop.
