6. Richtlijnen als hulpmiddel bij de verbetering van de zorg

Samenvatting

Een richtlijn is een document met aanbevelingen ter ondersteuning van zorgprofessionals en zorggebruikers, gericht op het verbeteren van de kwaliteit van zorg en berustend op wetenschappelijk onderzoek aangevuld met expertise en ervaringen van zorgprofessionals en patiënten. De ontwikkeling van een richtlijn is een belangrijke stap van kennisontwikkeling naar toepassing in de praktijk. Bij de ontwikkeling van een richtlijn dient een systematische, stapsgewijze aanpak te volgen, waarbij niet alleen een adequate synthese van kennis en ervaring wordt gemaakt maar ook aan implementatie wordt gewerkt. Dit laatste betreft onder meer relevantie, draagvlak, attractiviteit en toegankelijkheid van de richtlijn.
