Samenvatting

Wereldwijd worden per jaar 234 miljoen operaties uitgevoerd²⁾ en meer dan 50 procent van de postoperatieve complicaties in ziekenhuizen kan worden toegeschreven aan chirurgische interventies.³⁾ Door de toenemende technische kennis en mogelijkheden worden steeds meer complexe chirurgische ingrepen verricht, met mogelijk een nog grotere kans op postoperatieve complicaties.
