4. Prenatale zorg

Samenvatting

Prenatale zorg, een vorm van preventieve geneeskunde, is de verloskundige zorg aan zwangeren voorafgaand aan de geboorte van het kind.
De hoofddoelen van de prenatale zorg zijn:
  • bevorderen van een goede gezondheid en psychisch welbevinden van de vrouw;
  • bevorderen van een gezonde ontwikkeling van het ongeboren kind;
  • voorkómen van een gecompliceerd verloop van de zwangerschap en de bevalling door het geven van voorlichting en advies;
  • vroegtijdig herkennen van complicaties en het inschatten of nader onderzoek, specialistische begeleiding en behandeling noodzakelijk zijn (risicoselectie);
  • opbouwen van een vertrouwensrelatie met de aanstaande ouders;
  • voorlichten over en counselen bij beslissingen in de zwangerschap.
In dit hoofdstuk worden de routine prenatale zorg, de voorlichting en het advies bij veelvoorkomende klachten in de zwangerschap en de mogelijkheden voor screening en diagnostiek besproken.
