4. Orgasmestoornissen bij vrouwen

Samenvatting

Orgasmestoornissen bij de vrouw worden gekenmerkt door een duidelijk vertraagd, of zelden of nooit optreden van het orgasme, of een duidelijk verminderde intensiteit van de orgastische gevoelens. Schade aan het centrale zenuwstelsel, het ruggenmerg of de perifere zenuwen als gevolg van trauma of ziekte, en het gebruik van psychofarmaca zoals antidepressiva en antipsychotica kunnen leiden tot orgasmeproblemen. Daarnaast spelen inadequate seksuele stimulatie, een negatieve attitude ten aanzien van seks, angst voor controleverlies, een gebrek aan ‘seksuele autonomie’ en gebrekkige communicatie tussen partners vaak een rol. Er bestaan geen empirisch gevalideerde medicamenteuze behandelingen voor orgasmestoornissen bij de vrouw. De bewezen effectieve psychologische behandeling bestaat uit gedragstherapeutische en cognitieve interventies die zowel individueel als in een behandeling samen met de partner kunnen worden toegepast. In dit hoofdstuk worden de specifieke diagnostiek en behandeling bij orgasmeproblemen van de vrouw beschreven.
