Abstract

We describe cardiac perforation of a Riata implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) shock lead in a 76-year-old male nine days after implantation of a prophylactic ICD. Since there are more reports of increased risk of cardiac perforations with the Riata lead, we advise cautious use of this lead. (Neth Heart J 2009;17:113–4.)
