Lichamelijke klachten bij kinderen

Vindt er bekrachtiging plaats door positieve ouderreacties?

Het doel van dit onderzoek was te kijken naar de invloed van bezorgd ouderlijk gedrag (d.w.z. positieve gevolgen verbinden aan klachten) op zelfgerapporteerde lichamelijke klachten bij basisschoolkinderen. Aan het onderzoek namen 564 kinderen (gemiddelde leeftijd tien jaar) en hun ouders deel. De kinderen vulden zelfrapportagelijsten in naar lichamelijke klachten, bezorgd ouderlijk gedrag, depressiviteit, angst en ervaren grip op het leven. Lichamelijke klachten werden zes maanden later opnieuw gemeten. Ouders vulden ook een vragenlijst in over bezorgd gedrag. Er was geen relatie tussen bezorgd ouderlijk gedrag en de frequentie van zelfgerapporteerde lichamelijke klachten. Depressiviteit, angst en minder ervaren grip op het leven waren geassocieerd met meer lichamelijke klachten, maar hadden geen interactie met bezorgd ouderlijk gedrag. Ouders lijken dus niet bij te dragen aan het ontstaan van lichamelijke klachten bij kinderen via eventuele positieve consequenties die zij aan lichamelijke klachten verbinden.
