“Understanding Street Culture” by Jonathan Ilan is a book about the manifestations of street culture; what it is, how it came to be, the implications of it on mainstream society, and the effects mainstream society has on it. The author starts by explaining what street culture is and ties up the book with how mainstream society, within the context of a globalized world, can mitigate some of the more harmful effects of street culture while at the same time demarginalize the affected populations that make it up. …
