4. Gezondheid en fitheid bij jongeren

Samenvatting

Hoewel er sprake is van overlap tussen de begrippen ‘gezondheid’ en ‘fitheid’, zijn ze niet identiek. Wie fit is hoeft niet gezond te zijn en ook het omgekeerde geldt: wie gezond is, hoeft niet fit te zijn (zie figuur 4.1). Goedgetrainde sporters hebben een uitstekende fitheid. Afhankelijk van het soort training beschikken ze over een groot uithoudingsvermogen, een goede coördinatie of grote spierkracht en lenigheid. Diezelfde sporters hoeven niet altijd ook over een uitstekende gezondheid te beschikken.
