2. Geschiedenis van de seksuologie: paradigma’s, thema’s en debatten

Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk wordt de geschiedenis van de seksuologie als interdisciplinaire wetenschap in vogelvlucht beschreven. Er wordt een overzicht geboden vanaf de publicatie van het boek Psychopathia Sexualis in 1886 tot heden. Daarbij worden kernthema’s en kernparadigma’s (essentialisme, sociaal-constructionisme, biopsychosociaal paradigma) in het seksuologisch denken en handelen beschreven, om zo een historische achtergrond te schetsen bij de rest van dit boek. Na internationale ontwikkelingen te hebben overzien, worden de Nederlandse en Vlaamse seksuologie vanuit historisch perspectief gesitueerd tegen deze internationale achtergrond.
