Abstract

Ontwikkeling voltrekt zich altijd in de context van relaties. Dat geldt zowel voor de ontwikkeling van competenties (zoals taalontwikkeling, ontwikkeling van sociale vaardigheden) als voor de ontwikkeling van psychopathologie. Zeker op jonge leeftijd vormen gezinsrelaties de belangrijkste sociale context voor het kind. Dat opvoeding binnen het gezin gerelateerd is aan de psychopathologie van het kind staat onomstotelijk vast (zie voor recente overzichten bv. Repetti, Taylor, & Seeman, 2002; Wamboldt & Wamboldt, 2000). Gezinsgerichte interventies blijken ook meer succes te hebben dan alleen op het kind gerichte interventies (Hoagwood, 2005; Stormshal & Dishion, 2002).
