Samenvatting

Om goede zorg te verlenen aan alle ouderen is het belangrijk om rekening te houden met diversiteit. In dit hoofdstuk laten we zien dat er grote verschillen zijn in gezondheid tussen ouderen wat betreft sekse/gender, sociaaleconomische positie en etniciteit. Daarnaast gaan we in op de rol van cultuur, taalbarrières en beperkte gezondheidsvaardigheden van ouderen binnen de gerontologie en de geriatrische zorg. We besluiten het hoofdstuk met aanbevelingen voor het geven van diversiteitssensitieve zorg.
