Samenvatting

De skiduim is een partiële of complete ruptuur van het ulnaire collaterale ligament van het metacarpofalangeale gewricht van de duim. Het is een veelvoorkomend letsel dat tot chronische pijn en instabiliteit kan leiden indien het onjuist gediagnosticeerd wordt. Kennis van de anatomie en zorgvuldig lichamelijk onderzoek zijn essentieel in de evaluatie van de patiënt met een skiduim. In dit artikel wordt een review gegeven van de relevante anatomie, de correcte methode van lichamelijk onderzoek en opties voor aanvullend onderzoek en behandeling met aandacht voor eventuele valkuilen.
