Patiënten met chronische pijn in de regio van het bekken zijn in de eerste plaats pijnpatiënten. Vroegtijdige multidisciplinaire behandeling van de patiënt met onverklaarde chronische bekkenpijn geeft betere behandelresultaten en toename van de patiënt tevredenheid. In dit artikel aandacht voor diagnostiek en behandeling van de patiënt met chronische bekkenpijn. Deze patiënt wordt bekeken vanuit verschillende modellen, het biomedische, het psychologische en het sociale. De uiteindelijke benadering wordt voorgesteld vanuit het biopsychosociale model.

Chronic pelvic pain, modern ideas about diagnosis and treatment
Patients with chronic pain in the region of the pelvis are first to be considered pain patients. Early multimodal treatment of patients with undiagnosed chronic pelvic pain will yield better treatment results and improve patient satisfaction. In this article attention is paid to the diagnostic and treatment options in patients with this type of pain. The patient is looked at from different models: biomedical, psychological and social. The final approach is based on the biopsychosocial model.
