13. Bevorderen van ontwikkeling door stimuleren van interactie en aanleren van vaardigheden

Samenvatting

De meest effectieve behandelingen om (jonge) kinderen met autisme vaardigheden aan te leren bestaan uit een combinatie van interactieve en gedragstherapeutische technieken. In dit hoofdstuk bespreken we de meest voorkomende technieken. Interactieve technieken worden gebruikt om de betrokkenheid en motivatie van het kind tijdens interacties te verhogen en omvatten sensitieve responsiviteit, levendigheid, verleiden tot communicatie en interactie, beurtname en imitatie. Om specifieke vaardigheden aan te leren worden de gedragstherapeutische technieken bekrachtiging, shaping, prompting en modeling ingezet. Het is belangrijk om de ouders bij de behandeling te betrekken, de omgeving van het kind aan te passen, en in te zetten op behoud en generalisatie van de geleerde vaardigheden. Het hoofdstuk sluit af met een aantal specifieke behandelingsprogramma’s die geïmplementeerd zijn in Nederland en/of Vlaanderen.
