12. Aspecten van de behandeling van neurologische aandoeningen

Abstract

Dit hoofdstuk bouwt voort op de bespreking, in de hoofdstukken 3 en 5, van de specifieke biologische veranderingen die optreden als gevolg van ouder worden of ziekten. In dit inleidende gedeelte wordt een model geschetst voor het beschouwen van neurologische stoornissen, gevolgd door gedeelten over mobiliteit, evenwicht en coördinatie, spierzwakte en tremor. De twee belangrijkste neurologische aandoeningen die in dit hoofdstuk besproken worden, zijn het cerebrovasculaire accident (cva) en de ziekte van Parkinson. Hierbij zullen de mate van voorkomen, de effectiviteit van de behandeling, de evaluatie en mogelijke behandelstrategieën aan de orde komen.
