11. De behandeling van aandoeningen van het bewegingsapparaat

Abstract

Een van de uitgangspunten van de geriatrische revalidatie zoals verwoord in de Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is dat ongeveer dertig procent van alle geriatrische patiënten hun arts raadpleegt wegens klachten van het bewegingsapparaat.1 Hieruit blijkt dat de orthopedie een belangrijke rol speelt bij fysiotherapie voor ouderen. Dit hoofdstuk begint met een korte beschrijving van de veranderingen in het bewegingsapparaat als gevolg van het ouder worden. Daarna worden het onderzoek en de behandeling van elk gewricht apart onder de loep genomen.
