semenvatting

adhd is een verzamelnaam voor het gedrag van kinderen die opvallen door problemen in de aandachtshuishouding en/of door hyperactiviteit-impulsiviteit. De oorzaak van het gedrag is heterogeen en bestaat in het merendeel van de gevallen uit een combinatie van een vroeg (genetisch, pre-of perinataal) ontstane kwetsbaarheid van het zenuwstelsel voor stress-inducerende omgevingsfactoren. Het hier volgende artikel beschrijft verschillende veranderingen van het zenuwstelsel die bij kinderen met adhd kunnen worden aangetroffen en welke rol deze veranderingen mogelijk kunnen spelen.
