Aanvullende waarde van echografie bij bij gesloten midschacht-humerusfracturen met nervusradialisletsel

Samenvatting

Letsel van de nervus radialis treedt in wisselende mate van ernst op bij circa 10% van de patiënten met een gesloten midschacht-humerusfractuur. Vroege chirurgische interventie levert een goede kans op herstel, evenals primair afwachten met eventuele late chirurgische interventie. De behandeling van keuze is hiermee in grote mate afhankelijk van de voorkeur van patiënt en behandelaar. Echografische beoordeling van de nervus in de acute fase kan een aanvulling zijn in het diagnostisch proces. Een intacte nervus wordt vastgelegd en onnodige chirurgische exploratie wordt voorkomen; patiënt en behandelaar verkrijgen een groter gevoel van zekerheid tijdens de expectatieve periode.
