Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk worden frequent voorkomende ziekten en afwijkingen besproken die de zwangerschap kunnen compliceren. Zowel maternale alsook perinatale morbiditeit en mortaliteit zijn gerelateerd aan deze ziekten. Kennis over de invloed hiervan op de zwangerschap en kennis over de invloed van zwangerschap op de ziekten zijn nodig om deze zwangeren goed te begeleiden. Vaak is een multidisciplinaire behandeling met internist, chirurg, anesthesist, cardioloog of psychiater nodig voor optimale begeleiding. Daarmee zijn tegenwoordig veel van deze ziekten goed behandelbaar en kunnen vrouwen met bijvoorbeeld congenitale hartziekten of kanker na behandeling alsnog zwanger worden.
