Too close, too close for comfort

Samenvatting

De psychologen Aghassy en Noot baarden twaalf jaar geleden opzien met een artikel in dit tijdschrift over het seksueel misbruik van patiënten door hun psychotherapeuten (Aghassy & Noot, 1987). Menig psychotherapeut wist natuurlijk wel dat het verschijnsel bestond, maar een issue was het tot dan toe niet. Er werd besmuikt over gesproken en er werd slechts zeer incidenteel over geschreven, althans in Nederland (Van Emde Boas, 1966; Vandereycken, 1984). Hoewel iedereen wel een collega kende die van een collega wist dat deze er intieme relaties met patiënten op na had gehouden, was de algemene indruk dat seksueel contact tussen patiënt en therapeut slechts bij uitzondering voorkwam.
