Samenvatting

Ella is als kind veelvuldig misbruikt door haar vader. Op veertigjarige leeftijd is ze voor het eerst gaan praten over het misbruik en sindsdien heeft ze verschillende vormen van hulpverlening gehad. Na jarenlange behandeling voor haar posttraumatische-stressstoornis en dissociatieve identiteitsstoornis kampt ze nog steeds met een hoge lijdensdruk. Ella heeft veel chaos en drukte in haar hoofd door de acht verschillende identiteiten die ze ervaart. Ze hoort van haar behandelaar dat er een studie gestart wordt naar schematherapie bij dissociatieve identiteitsstoornis. Ze is gemotiveerd een nieuwe behandelmethodiek te proberen en neemt zelf contact op met de onderzoekers om als cliënt aan dit onderzoek deel te nemen. De behandeling verloopt volgens een behandelprotocol dat speciaal voor de studie werd geschreven en duurt drieënhalf jaar. In die periode werkt Ella hard aan het doorbreken van storende patronen en krijgt ze uiteindelijk meer rust in haar hoofd.
