21. Retentie is geen evidentie

Abstract

De stabilisatie (retentie) van het orthodontisch bereikte behandelresultaat is een belangrijk gegeven in de orthodontie. De etiologie van het gedeeltelijk of volledig terugvallen (recidief) van de orthodontisch verkregen correcties is onvoldoende bekend. Verschillende factoren liggen mogelijk aan de basis van het orthodontisch recidief dat vaak onvoorspelbaar is en een grote individuele variatie laat zien.
