Rammelende ROM in de ggz: geen ROM zonder Routine Process Monitoring

Samenvatting

Routine Outcome Monitoring (ROM) is een systeem om het behandelverloop op het niveau van de individuele patiënt intensief te volgen met behulp van een of meer gestandaardiseerde meetinstrumenten. Het systeem is primair bedoeld om de behandelaar en de patiënt te ondersteunen in het tijdig opsporen van stagnaties of achteruitgang. ROM is dus een vorm van procesbeïnvloeding. In dit artikel worden de eigenlijke bedoeling en werkwijze van ROM besproken. Die wijken fundamenteel af van de vorm die ROM in Nederland aanneemt. In Nederland lijkt ROM helaas vooral een controle-instrument voor beleidsmakers te worden, waarvoor patiënten en behandelaars niet warm zullen lopen.
