Additional information

Are patients’ requests at the start of psychotherapy predictors of drop-out?

Patients applying for psychotherapy do have specific requests about treatment. It is assumed that certain types of requests about treatment may be risk factors for dropping out. We compared patients who dropped out with patients who continued treatment on specific requests, stated on a self-report questionnaire (an extended version of the Patient Request Form) at the beginning of treatment. Significant differences were found between the requests of the two groups.

Our conclusion is that the used self-report questionnaire might be a helpful instrument to trace potential drop-outs at the beginning of treatment.
